We have been making these hex style bullet comparators for over 20 years, and believe we make the most accurate tools available. The holes in the Sinclair Bullet Comparators are cut with throating reamers to accurately duplicate the actual throat of a rifle. The comparator is used with calipers, and allows the reloader to accurately measure the length from the major diameter of the bullet to the case head. It also enables you to make accurate seating depth changes to your bullet seater. The Sinclair Comparator does not attach to your calipers, so your calipers are free for other measurements. Machined from stainless steel. There are two different models of Sinclair Comparators to cover bullets calibers from .17 caliber to .338. The first model (09-600) features holes bored and throated for .224, 6mm, .257, 6.5mm (.264), 7mm, and 308. The second model (09-700) has holes throated for .172, .204, .224, .270, .308, and .338 caliber.

Simple, well made piece.(16-02-2011)
I have used this tool for a few years and can say it's a very high quality unit. It's stainless so there's no concern about rust/pitting. I do think they should add another facet with .204.
100% satisfaction(19-07-2011)
I probably bought mine 20yrs ago. I use it every time I load for a rifle. And I measure factory loads with it... that reveals a lot about bullet shape and jump to the lands. Sinclair this comparator is as handy as the veneer calipers and it takes my reloading to a new level. Guy's and gals I gave this tool 5 * and I never do that.
Easy to Use(30-11-2011)
All of the tools of this type seem to work-however this is my favorite because it is easy to use and does not require any setup time when using with a caliper.
Recommend(06-02-2012)
Very handy, but the finish on the tool was a little rough. I did some light polishing to remove some tool marks and burrs. Excellent value however for the money and number of calipers you can use it for. I hate to really rate this a 4, but slightly disappointed with finish.
Simple but Great...(15-08-2013)
A very simple consistent tool. Have used it for years measuring my target rounds. Great for use with analog calipers.
Bullet comparator #1 review(18-02-2016)
2 friends and I have these for our 308s which we use for benchrest and FTR. Mine and one other have a chamfer at each hole. The third does not and bullets will measure .040 longer on that third one. You can even see that it does not come down as far on the bullet. They do provide you the ability to consistantly seat at the same depth, so you can use these for your own loads but dont use them to provide measuring data to someone else.
Poor manufacturing tolerances...(14-06-2016)
Pretty simple, really. These are well made and very easy to use. The problem is consistency between units. Originally, I had a #2. About 5 years later I bought a #1. They have some different calibers, but share at least the 30 Caliber hole. After a while, I began having problems with seating depth issues. It finally dawned on me that the .30 caliber hole in each was vastly different. It resulted in a 0.030 difference in bullet seating depth! I called Sinclair and they told me it "wasn't really a precision tool". Give me a break, they can't hold tolerances on a hole any better than that? Maybe it's too much to expect, but I do expect a Starrett micrometer to read very close to the same as a Mitutoyo micrometer...
Make sure you ALWAYS use the same tool for the same caliber!
Not really usable(18-07-2016)
The holes aren't round, particularly the .30 one, so a round wobbles in it, making measurements quite hard. If you want a precision tool â this one is not it.
poor workmanship(06-09-2010)
Holes not cut to proper dimensions. The one I bout recently was bad, one I bought years back is Good. I made a gauge with a empty casing with my Lee collet die, loading the bullet by hand, loaded the dummy round into the chamber and saw the rifling marks on the bullet. The coparator met the mark right at the satrt of the rifling. So.. if cut right, it works great.
Disappointing.(15-05-2014)
I bought this to try to measure 20 caliber bullets and seat bullets accurately to get correct jump. 4 out of the 5 20 caliber brands of bullets wobble in the hole so I can't get an accurate measurement. It appears that the hole is not machined to match the bullet ogive very well. I use Sinclair's quick sorting comparators for my other calibers and love them - they all work for all bullets with my dial indicator and stand. They do not make a 20 caliber one so I tried this. I will have to return it and try something else... The other calibers on the hex comparator may work but I only need the 20 caliber.
Good for approximation(18-12-2014)
I got one of these to use when reloading for .223. I shoot Berger VLD 80 and 90g bullets but they wobble too much in this comparator... either the hole is not round or the Berger bullets are not round, and somehow I doubt it is the bullets. Its hard to get consistent measurements when the bullets wobble in the hole, and if you push it in hard enough to stop the wobble, the tool leaves a very distinct mark around the bullet. I really wish the fit was better because the concept is great, and it is awfully convenient since it doesn't tie up your calipers.
One of the best tools(13-11-2016)
This is one the best tools I have used for reloading. Fits at the diameter of the bullet so comparison measurements are true. Every precision reloader should have one.
